Maryam gets summary prepared for prisoners' release, sentence remission ahead of Eid

LAHORE (Dunya News) – On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a summary has been prepared for the remission in sentences and release of prisoners on the auspicious occasion of Eidul Azha.
According to details, the summary will be shortly presented to the provincial cabinet for approval.
Following the cabinet’s approval, two-thirds of men prisoners over 70 and women prisoners over 60, who have completed two-thirds of their sentences, will benefit. Similarly, two-thirds of women prisoners, who have completed their sentences with children under five, will benefit.
Details indicate that completion of two-thirds of the sentence and good conduct are required for the reduction of sentence and release of prisoners.
Meanwhile, Punjab Interior Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal visited Lahore’s Central Jail where he inspected the kitchen, hospital, barracks as well as industrial and vocational centre.
